faux vs fresh florals?

Contrary to popular belief, we find that faux flowers can be more costly than fresh. We like to use the most realistic looking florals and with that comes a price. However, you get to keep those flowers forever and they can be repurposed into decor for your home! Whichever you choose, we will give you all the pros and cons to help you make the best decision for your specific needs.

How to avoid flowers drooping?

From the second your bouquet is processed, it sits in a water source in our cooler, protected from the elements. Every time it’s taken out of water, it gets a fresh cut before returning back into the vase. When it comes to your wedding, you cannot keep doing that - well unless you make a bridesmaid stand there with a vase full of water and snips, but who has time for that lol.

While most florals can withstand being out of water for a period of time, the elements around them may cause them to droop. For example, roses are more hardy than hydrangeas as hydrangeas are much more water dependent. Weather is the biggest deciding factor on the length of time your bouquet will last out of water. The colder the temperature, the longer they will last. But again, we are dealing with mother nature and while we pride ourselves on the quality of our work, we cannot change the internal structure of these beautiful plants. If you have any questions on the best types of flowers to go with on your big day, please email us and we can discuss the best options for your needs! Below are some tips we have for brides who may be concerned about flowers drooping!

TIPS

  1. Keep your flowers in a cold, dark area and in water until you are ready for them - we provide vases to all brides which include the right amount of water and food already mixed in

  2. If you are in a warmer climate and cannot store them in a basement or cold room, you can add 1 ice cube to vase and have someone monitor it. We find brides can get away with adding 1 ice cube every 1-2 hours leading up to go time. Make sure you do not add more than 1 as any more could possibly shock the flowers.

  3. If you already know the flowers will be out of water for a long period of time ( 3+ hours) you can have someone bring either the vase and travel box we provided or a plastic ziplock bag along with them. At this point you can fill either of these up and put the flowers in them. Extra pro tip is to put them into one of these while you are driving to your picture destination. Flowers are amazing and its crazy to watch them perk back up after a few minutes of being in water.

How far in advance should I book my florals?

We recommend contacting us as soon as possible! That way we can ensure your spot is booked. When it comes to choosing florals, we can definitely talk about them when you contact us, but we find brides often change their minds if they book 1 year or earlier in advance. If you are not sure on colour chooses, we can book your spot in and touch base again 2-3 months before your wedding, once your final outfits and colour themes are picked. Of course if you have already decided or decide earlier than 2-3 months, we can proceed to make an appointment for finalizations!

That being said, last minute brides can contact us up to 3 weeks before your wedding date. This ensures we are able to book your time slot in and accommodate your style better. Anything under 3 weeks before is doable, but can be more of a challenge when it comes to requested flowers. We have had brides ask us 1-2 days before their wedding, and while were able to get it done, there were some florals that we had to sub out as it was too late to get them in. In this case, make sure to keep this in mind when booking super close to your date!
